About Ambulatory Surgery:
Referred to as outpatient or same-day surgery, ambulatory surgical procedures
can be completed without an overnight hospital stay. This practical alternative
is appropriate when your surgery is not an emergency, and can be planned in
advance with your physician. In most cases, you are discharged the same day and
can recuperate in the comfort of your own home. This means less time away from
work and your family, more convenience for you and over-all less expense.
About Iredell Surgical Center:
In 1991 four local surgeons opened the Center with two operating suites and
nine employees. (Six of those nine employees celebrated 10 years of employment
in 2001.) The Center has become a joint venture between thirteen local
physicians and two hospital systems: Carolinas HealthCare System and Iredell
Memorial Hospital. Within ten years it expanded from 3800 to 10,000 square feet
with four OR suites, 24 employees and over 40 surgeons on the Medical Staff.
Managed by Carolinas HealthCare System the Center enjoys the resources of the
largest health care system in the Carolinas.
